Postdoctoral researcher in seismic isolation for gravitational wave detectors at University of Antwerp
The Particle Physics group of the University of Antwerp invites applications for a postdoctoral position in gravitational wave instrumentation, with a focus on seismic isolation and suspension commissioning for Advanced Virgo+ Phase 2. The group is an active member of the Virgo, Einstein Telescope (ET), and ETpathfinder collaborations. The successful candidate will join the group’s research on sensors & actuators, seismic attenuation and controls, by contributing to the construction and commissioning of new compact seismic isolation systems for Advanced Virgo+ Phase 2. A major upgrade planned for the O5 observing run is the installation of short stable recycling cavities, which requires significant modifications of the existing vacuum and seismic isolation systems. Application deadline: July 31st 2026.
