PhD position in SRF cavity control for gravitational wave searches at DESY Hamburg
DESY invites applications for a PhD position in the SHOGWAVE/SONAR project, which uses superconducting radio-frequency (SRF) cavities to search for high-frequency gravitational waves. The candidate will join the low-level RF (LLRF) development team. The work covers further development of high-precision RF field control and of carrier suppression interferometer (CSI) techniques, including their integration into the LLRF system. It also includes developing, building and operating RF measurement devices for the cavity test stands, designing algorithms to automate the calibration of the control and measurement system, and carrying out measurement studies on very-high-Q SRF cavities.
