  • Postdoctoral fellow in gravitational wave data analysis and noise mitigation for LISA at University of British Columbia

03.04.2024 Postdoctoral fellow in gravitational wave data analysis and noise mitigation for LISA at University of British Columbia The University of British Columbia invites applications for a postdoctoral fellow position in gravitational wave astronomy to contribute to the LISA mission. LISA, recently adopted by the European Space Agency for an expected launch in the mid-2030s, is a space-based gravitational wave observatory optimized for detecting gravitational wave signals in the millihertz frequency range. The successful applicant will develop and test analysis methods to identify and remove transient noise from LISA data as well as methods for finding and fitting novel transient gravitational wave signals such as bursts from highly eccentric hierarchical…

  • Gravitational Wave Orchestra in the Alps, September 17 – 19, 2024, Annecy

Gravitational Wave Orchestra in the Alps, September 17 – 19, 2024, Annecy The second edition of the „Gravitational Wave Orchestra“ in Annecy, following a first event in Louvain-la-Neuve in September 2022. The idea of this series of workshops is to bring together international experts on the stochastic gravitational background. This background is the gravitational signal created by the ensemble of all sources, from the earliest instants of the Universe, that are too distant or too faint to be detected individually. • Postdoctoral positions in the Theoretical Astrophysics group at the University of Potsdam

14.03.2024 Postdoctoral positions in the Theoretical Astrophysics group at the University of Potsdam The Theoretical Astrophysics group at the University of Potsdam (led by Tim Dietrich) is opening up to two postdoctoral positions. The group has strong ties to the Max Planck Fellow group “Multi-messenger Astrophysics of Compact Binaries”, as well as the “Astrophysical and Cosmological Relativity” and “Computational Relativistic Astrophysics” divisions at the Max Planck Institute for Gravitational Physics. We work on a variety of research fields, among others, numerical-relativity simulations, gravitational-wave modeling, the modeling of electromagnetic signatures connected to binary neutron star and black hole-neutron star mergers, as well as multi-messenger astrophysics and its connection to nuclear physics.…
