Postdoctoral position in Strong Gravitational Lensing of Gravitational Waves in Groningen
Applications are invited for a Postdoctoral Research Position at the Kapteyn Astronomical Institute, University of Groningen, in the Netherlands. The successful candidate will work on galaxy-scale strong lensing of gravitational wave events from black hole mergers. The project focuses on simulating, modelling, forecasting, and astrophysically interpreting strongly lensed gravitational wave events for the LIGO-Virgo-KAGRA (LVK) detector network. It also aims to identify lens systems in optical/infrared surveys (e.g., Euclid) or radio surveys (e.g., SKA). The postdoc will collaborate closely with Prof. van den Broeck’s group at GRASP in Utrecht and Prof. Hannuksela’s group at CUHK, both of whom specialize in detecting strongly lensed gravitational wave events, and will become a member of the LVK Collaboration. Application deadline: April 6th 2025.
